Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) refers to the family of methods used to evaluate the structural integrity of a material, weld or component without causing any damage to it. Techniques such as radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT) and visual testing (VT) can reveal cracks, porosity, weld defects and internal discontinuities while the part remains in service.
In sectors such as energy, petrochemicals, pressure vessels, pipelines and steel construction, NDT is a cornerstone of both operational safety and legal compliance. A discontinuity detected early significantly reduces the risk of serious failure, production loss or workplace accidents in the future.
The value of an NDT service is directly proportional to the competence of the personnel performing it and the accreditation framework within which the method is carried out. Certified personnel (for example under ISO 9712) and accredited laboratory processes ensure the reliability and international validity of the results obtained.
