Training
Radiographic Testing (RT) Level 2 — EN ISO 9712 Preparation
Level 2 training covering film interpretation, technique selection and examination preparation in industrial radiography.
The course focuses on evaluating radiographs taken with X-ray and gamma sources (Ir-192, Se-75), selecting exposure techniques (SWSI, DWSI, DWDI), geometric unsharpness, use of IQIs/penetrameters and film density control. Participants learn to distinguish weld and casting discontinuities (porosity, slag, lack of fusion, cracks, incomplete penetration) and to report them against applicable acceptance criteria. The programme includes theoretical and practical preparation for the EN ISO 9712 Level 2 certification examination.
The course also covers basic radiation safety principles and exposure calculations; however, it does not replace a statutory radiation safety authorisation. Practical work is carried out on real film sets and digital images.
Learning outcomes
- Determine the exposure technique based on material thickness and geometry and calculate exposure parameters
- Verify film quality (density, IQI sensitivity, artefacts) against standards
- Classify weld and casting discontinuities and evaluate them against acceptance criteria
- Prepare an examination report in standard format
Who should attend?
