Training
Interpreting Welding Procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQR)
Training on welding procedure qualification, management of variables and interpretation of documents.
The course covers welding procedure qualification under EN ISO 15614-1, the relationship between WPS, pWPS and WPQR/PQR documents, and the validity ranges of essential variables (material group, thickness range, heat input, preheat, position, shielding gas). Participants learn to check whether a WPS is consistent with a qualified WPQR and to identify out-of-scope situations.
The programme includes the relationship between welder qualification records (EN ISO 9606-1) and the WPS, interpretation of destructive test results, and on-site documentation review. Practical work is carried out on real WPS/WPQR examples.
Learning outcomes
- Explain the relationship and qualification chain between WPS, pWPS and WPQR/PQR
- Check validity ranges of essential variables according to EN ISO 15614-1
- Determine whether a welding task falls within an existing WPS scope
- Verify welder qualification compliance with the WPS
Who should attend?
