Training

Welding Coordination Personnel Training — EN ISO 14731

Training covering coordination tasks and responsibilities in welded fabrication and the relationship between EN ISO 14731 and EN ISO 3834.

The course covers the tasks and responsibilities of welding coordination personnel as defined in EN ISO 14731 for organisations performing welded fabrication: contract and design review, control of parent and consumable materials, preparation of the welding plan, WPS/WPQR management, monitoring of welder qualifications, coordination of inspection and testing activities during and after production, and nonconformity management.

The programme includes the relationship between the EN ISO 3834 (quality requirements for fusion welding) levels and coordination tasks, the responsibilities assigned to welding coordination in application standards such as EN 1090-2, and how the allocation of tasks (comprehensive, specific and basic technical knowledge levels) is documented. Practical work includes preparing a sample welding plan, document chain review and field scenarios.

Learning outcomes

  • Define welding coordination tasks and responsibilities according to EN ISO 14731
  • Prepare a welding plan; manage the WPS/WPQR and welder qualification chain
  • Relate EN ISO 3834 quality requirements to coordination tasks
  • Determine control points before, during and after fabrication and manage nonconformities

Who should attend?

Engineers and technical personnel to be appointed as welding coordinators, manufacturing and quality managers, and teams of organisations preparing for EN 1090 / EN ISO 3834 certification.
